Carl Friedrich Pöppelmann
Life
Carl Friedrich von Pöppelmann (born 1696 or 1697 in Dresden; died February 14, 1750) was the second son of the Dresdner architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann.
He joined in 1714 as Kondukteur without pay in the Dresdner Bauamt and since 1717 he reguar sallery. 1705 Pöppelmann was parallel to lieutenant in the Saxon Corps of Engineers, on July 1, 1725 he was promoted to Captain. 1724 he went to King Augustus the Strong to Warsaw. 1729 or 1730 he became lieutenant colonel. Through his connections to Dresden the style of Dresden Rococo became established in the Polish capital.
In addition, the now Major General became Pöppelmann employed with fortifications. Pöppelmann was married to Elisabeth Hiche, leaving three minor children.
